I hope you had a great weekend! Went to B-Dubs w/my son Douglas to hang out w/our friends Moviestar & Sam. Douglas & I both got the boneless wings, but he went w/Asian Zing & I had the Spicy Garlic. Good stuff! Fun times! We spent time outside yesterday, enjoying the beautiful weather by playing LAX & taking our dog Poe for walks. We also enjoyed some nice AC & finally finished season 5 of The Flash! Looking forward to season 6! I hope you are looking forward to the new Boogieland! It will be here on Thursday! So, last time I mentioned my mom was coming to spend the day w/Douglas & myself. I'm happy to report we had a wonderful time! The weather was really nice, so we got to play our mini-golf & had delicious Mexican food afterward. It's funny because Mom brought a belated Father's Day present for me & I had a belated Mother's Day present for her. She gave me a DVD of the Ren & Stimpy show that we used to watch together when I was a teenager. We would laugh & laugh. My present to her just so happened to be a Ren & Stimp t-shirt! Great minds think alike! Happy Happy Joy Joy! Be back Mon. for more Boogieland which I hope brings you much happiness & much joy! Thanks for reading! So Heroes Con was awesome! As usual. Gala, Douglas & I had a blast & we even decided to bring our dog, Poe w/us for the first time. She did amazingly well w/all the crazy characters hanging around! This year's highlights mostly consisted of Douglas & me managing to catch many of the people I wanted to see when they didn't have big lines, allowing for more time for longer conversations between fellow comics fans. Other highlights include Douglas winning a sick 'The Flash' t-shirt playing CW Plinko! (I won a crisp high five, which was almost as cool!) It's always nice to see those special friends that we have seen every year. & as I always say, it's nice meeting new friends each year too. & since I wear my BWC camp shirts these days, it's also cool to meet fellow Jimmy Valiant fans! Speaking of which it was wonderful spending another Father's Day at BWC w/Jimmy Valiant, who has always been a father figure to me, among many other things. I hope you all had a nice Father's Day weekend! Be back this Thurs. for the new Boogieland! Thanks for reading! Went to see Twenty One Pilots last night w/my wife, Gala, my son, Douglas & his friend, Andrew. It was an amazing show! Tyler Joseph & Josh Dunn are incredibly talented entertainers & musicians! They put on an incredible performance every night! When Boogie won the NWA TV Title, he would say 'this is my people's belt' which was a great way to make the fans feel included & show how important they are. As a kid I really felt like I was part holder, along w/the other Street People, of the NWA TV championship belt. Twenty One Pilots have a similar way of acknowledging their fans & making sure they know they are an important part of the whole experience. At the end of each concert, Tyler says "We're Twenty One Pilots, & so are you!" I think that's really cool. I have to mention an unfortunate coincidence that happened very recently. Before I start posting a Boogieland storyline I typically have it all worked out from beginning to end. When I introduced the impostor Magnet Man it was already worked out that he would at one point derail a train as part of his rampage of destruction in Shawsville. Then, just the other day, a train actually derailed in Shawsville. When I heard about it, I initially planned to take the train derailing out of my story. But when I heard there were no injuries, I felt like it wouldn't be too inappropriate to leave in the scene I had planned before the real event happened. Even though there were no injuries, I know there is still a lot of difficulty & inconvenience involved, so it's a real shame that this happened. I certainly hope the train will be back running smoothly very soon. Be back this Thurs., for the next installment of the Elemental Magnet Man storyline! Thanks for reading! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or any Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Click HERE for more info. Take care.
Okay, so some things changed since my last after-comic blurb on Thurs. First of all, I did go see the new X-Men movie 'Dark Phoenix' w/my son Douglas & our friend Duncan. I won't give any spoilers, but I will say I liked some things about the movie & some things I didn't as much. Certain scenes were pretty cool to me as a comics fan & X-Men fan specifically. Overall, it was enjoyable to just have a carefree evening going to the theater to watch a super hero movie. The other change of plans was we didn't make it to the moonlight swim, due mostly to a last minute change of plans, but that's okay because I had a nice night anyway & there are still a couple more moonlight swims planned at the pool later this summer. Have a great rest of your weekend & be back this Mon. for more Boogieland as the 'Elemental Magnet Man Saga' continues! Thanks for reading!
