It's hard to believe a week has already passed since Heroes Con. Time keeps marching on. HEROES CON 2017 REPORT: It was awesome! Okay, that was the short version. To expand a little: Douglas, Gala & I had an awesome time on our annual road trip to the greatest comic show out there, Heroes Con in Charlotte, NC! It was nice seeing old friends, some of which I must have seen every single year in the 20 some years I've been attending the show. I even got to see some of the old friends, such as Michael Munshaw, who I hadn't seen in a really long time. & even after all this time there were some new friends & hopefully new Boogieland readers made at the show. Greetings to anyone who is here for the first time because we met at the big show yesterday. Got some great pictures w/the always awesome cosplayers. It was an added bonus getting to team up w/Douglas on Father's Day to play one of my all time favorite arcade games of the 80s, Gauntlet II! DMC, from the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame Rap Group RUN-DMC made a triumphant return for a second year of Heroes Con fun! I think it's awesome that someone from my favorite rap group of all time is a fellow Jimmy Valiant fan & a fellow comics fan. I'm certainly a fan of his DMC comic book. His panel w/his DMC collaborators Amy Chu & Domo Stanton was a very entertaining & informative panel that made me excited for DMC issue 3 & beyond! We gave Douglas $30 to spend at the show & he used $20 of his spending money to buy me a Heroes Con T-shirt for Father's Day. He is such a thoughtful & giving person. I'm so proud to be his father! I'm leaving a whole lot out I'm sure, but you get the idea. I'm really gonna try for two if not all three days next year! Be back this Thurs. for the next Boogieland or Bust comic strip! HEROES CON is almost here! The awesome Heroes Convention comic book show will take place this Fri., Sat., & Sun. June 16-18 in Charlotte, NC! I can't wait! I had the great opportunity once, years ago, to see both Boogie Woogie Menzes wrestle live as a tag team at the Lexington Armory in NC. They were in a cage match for the tag titles against Drake Tungsten and Matt Houston. It was an awesome night & an amazing match! I've been so honored & thankful to be able to publish an online comic strip about my all-time favorite wrestler & dear friend, The Boogie Woogie Man Jimmy Valiant, for all these years. I hope you've had a nice week so far. It's hard to believe it's June already! Where does the time go? It's been a super fun summer vacation so far w/my son, Douglas. It's also hard to believe we are already beginning another new Boogieland or Bust storyline! I've lost count of how many Boogieland stories I've told over the years! Guess I could actually count them if I really wanted to know, but suffice it to say it's been a lot. I've really enjoyed each & every one! This one could be the best one ever!
