I was saddened when I heard about the passing of wrestling legend & BWC Hall of Famer Nature Boy Buddy Landel this past Monday. Just the day before I was in the Hall of Fame building at camp & my son Douglas & I were going through & picking out all of the people we had met in person. I'm fortunate that Buddy Landel is one of those who I had the honor of meeting. I also once had the privilege of asking Landel a question on Boogie's Main Event radio show. He was an amazing talent in the ring & a really friendly guy when I met him in person. He will be greatly missed, but he has left behind a lasting legacy of great wrestling memories. RIP Buddy Landel. Be back this Monday to see what happens next in the 'Nightmare Factor' storyline! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or any Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Click HERE for more info. Thanks for reading! MM w/the great Buddy Landel. RIP Nature Boy.
Heroes Con in Charlotte, NC is a three day show for a reason. You really need that long to do all the fun stuff you'd like to do at a comic show. Unfortunately, we were only able to make it down for one day. Still. we had a blast in the short time that we had. I enjoyed spending the day w/my wife, my son, my niece & my nephew. It was great catching up w/the Heroes Con family that I see every year & also nice to see some people who I hadn't seen in a while, like super talented mini-comics creator Matt Feazell! & of course, just like every year I met some brand new Heroes friends. It's always a good opportunity to spread the word about BWC & this comic strip! A fun time was had by all! & the next day I got to celebrate Father's Day w/my BWC Family! What an awesome weekend! Check out the great picture of most of this year's Heroes crew below. I hope you enjoyed today's comic strip. Be back this Thurs. to see what happens next! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or any Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Click HERE for more info. Thanks for reading!
This is a big weekend for more than one reason. First of all, the annual Heroes Convention is taking place this Fri.-Sun. in Charlotte, NC. I've gone to the show for the last 20 years & although it's still not 100% yet this year, I'm hoping to get to Charlotte on Sat. to see old comic show buddies & hopefully to make some new friends too. If you happen to see me walking the con floor on Sat. be sure to come up & say hi & ask for one of the mini-comics I'll be handing out. Should be fun! Then the next day brings a very special day for me each year because it is Father's Day & I am very thankful to be a father to my wonderful son, Douglas. I celebrate being a father every single day, but it's nice to have one day set aside to celebrate fatherhood. Happy Father's Day to all the father's reading this! Be back this Monday for another new Boogieland or Bust comic strip! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or any Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Wow! I had just published today's strip & I was about to spread the word on Facebook when I saw that Dusty Rhodes passed away today. Dusty Rhodes was a big part of my childhood & on into adulthood watching him each week on television. We have lost many wrestling stars & any loss of life is sad, but this one really hit me. Just yesterday Douglas, Moviestar & I watched a wrestling DVD & Dusty was one of the hosts. I'll never forget when Dusty shaved his hair on the sides & wrote the name of his opponet 'Tully' on the side of his head. I've always thought that was an awesome way of intimidating your opponent. RIP Dustman! You will be missed but your memory will live on forever! Now here is the original blurb I had posted before I heard the sad news: Douglas & I have wrestled in our living room pretty much since he was born. We eventually came up w/our own wrestling company called NWF. We play the parts of all the wrestlers, many of which wear masks made by Angel Valiant through her Angel's Wrestling Wear company. After watching Wrestlemania 30, Douglas decided we should start our own yearly PPV called War of Great Heroes. In NWF time every month is a new year so today we are doing our 15th War Of Great Heroes show! Even in real time it's hard to believe so much time has passed! Time flies when you're having fun I guess. I hope you are having fun reading the current 'Nightmare Factor' storyline. Be back this Monday for the next exciting installment! Have a nice weekend! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or any Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Click HERE for more info. Thanks for reading!
This weekend saw history made in the world of sports not once but twice! First, American Pharoah was the first horse in a really long time to win the Triple Crown. Then, last night marked the first time an NBA championship series went to overtime for the first two games. Today could be considered comic strip history because it marks the first time the Boogieland Comic Strip has ever reached 476 strips! Be back Thursday when we reach another milestone w/477! Don't miss it! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or any Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Click HERE for more info. Thanks for reading!
Just had a 'King of the Mountain' basketball challenge against my son, Douglas. Best of ten shots from on the stairs into his 'Little Tikes' basketball goal that he's had since he was 1 & 1/2 years old. He beat me 8 to 6. Oh well. It was fun! Gotta love summer vacation! Enjoy today's comic strip & be back this Monday for more Boogieland fun! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or any Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Douglas & I had a blast this past Sat. at Happy's Flea Market in Roanoke, VA, shooting some pool, playing some video games & visiting w/BWC Family members Boogie & The Nightmare. Always nice spending time w/the family! Also got to have a nice lunch w/my brother Mike at the nearby Steak & Shake. Be back this Thursday for another exciting installment in the 'Nightmare Factor' storyline! Don't miss it! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or any Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Click HERE for more info. Thanks for reading!
