Happy Groundhog Day Eve! Well, this is it. Not really any warning, but I've planned it this way for a while. This is the final Boogieland comic strip. I did Boogieland or Bust for 9 years mostly on Mondays & Thursdays, but also other days on occasion. Then over a year of doing Boogieland Below for a total of 10 years or technically now over a decade of Boogieland comic strips! That is a significant part of my life for sure & it's been a wonderful experience & a true honor to be able to do a comic strip about my all-time favorite wrestler, Jimmy Valiant & his Boogie's Wrestling Camp & the whole BWC Family. In that entire time, over ten years, more than a decade, I have never once missed a deadline & always, every time published the comic strip on time for whatever the advertised schedule was. I am super proud of that fact. I definitely couldn't have done it w/out the help of my mom, Faye, who helped so much in various different ways. I also couldn't have done it w/out the patience of my wife, Gala, & my son, Douglas, who were so understanding & supportive while I was working to get the comic strip done for each new day. & it wouldn't have been possible at all w/out the blessing & support of Boogie & Angel & the many real life BWC Family Members who asked to be a part of the fun in comic strip form! Thank you all so much! It is greatly appreciated! The schedule varied from Mon., Thurs., to adding Sat. & sometimes even daily. Boogieland Below specifically was Monday's only. So that means every single Monday w/out fail for the past decade & more, I have posted a Boogieland comic strip online for all to enjoy. Next Monday will be the first Monday in over ten years that I won't post a Boogieland comic strip as part of my day. I'm sure that will feel weird, but I feel the Boogieland strips have run their course & it's time to bring the comic strip series to a close. That's not to say I won't do other comics in the future w/Boogieland in the title, but as far as this 10 year stretch it is now complete. As far as Boogieland Below specifically, there were some self-imposed guidelines that I made sure to adhere to for the full run. First of all, there were never any human characters in the whole story. Some were mentioned, but all the characters you saw were either animals or monsters of some kind. No humans. Also, each story like I said before was published on a Monday. That was the only day any of the Below strips were published. Also each storyline from beginning to end of the run were all holiday themed. I covered various different holidays, but there was never a storyline that didn't have a holiday theme. I also personally think it's cool that I started & ended Boogieland or Bust w/a Christmas storyline & I started & ended Boogieland Below also w/a Christmas storyline. It's my favorite holiday & Boogie's too, so it just seemed appropriate. Thank you all so much for reading & I have to give an extra special thank you for reading to my mom, Faye for reading every single comic strip in the entire run. I would hope she's not the only one who read every single comic strip, all 1,171 of them, but I know for a fact that by far she left the most comments! Thanks for that, Mom, & thanks for everything! When I do start another project related to BWC & it's wonderful cast of characters, I will be sure to announce it & post it right here on the official Jimmy Valiant website. Until then, thank you again so much for reading! It is greatly appreciated! Take care.
