The annual ‘Springtime Bash’ Shawsville Fundraiser wrestling show may have taken place over a month ago, but when I drove past Shawsville Middle School just the other day, I could still hear the echo of the roaring crowd reverberating into wrestling history! BWC Hall of Famer The Hangman Bruce Pobanz recently sent me some wonderful pictures he took both at the show that night & at BWC the next day for the big Q&A session w/Boogie & Ivan. I’ve posted some of them below for your enjoyment.

Bruce Pobanz "The Hangman"

I first met Jimmy Valiant in person, when I began my wrestling career in 1974. Ironically Jimmy was discovered 10 years prior in the same city I was discovered.

It was an honor to be invited to be a part of this history making event and being front row when Jimmy Valiant and Ivan Koloff tagged up for the first time. At 67 years old, both Jimmy and Ivan showed that they still know more about working the crowd then many young workers do.

It was a blast being at Shawsville Middle School. It is a blast and honor to be one of the first inducted into the BWC Hall Of Fame, the first year it opened. And it is a pleasure and joy to be a friend of Jimmy’s for over 36 years now.

Jimmy and Ivan made everyone feel welcomed at this event. They are both true Champions.

Show me any evidence that wrestled any of the people you claim to have Pobanz?
What amazes me most is that Jimmy Valiant actually hasn't stood up and outed you for being the phony you are.
Where's the proof Bruce?
Where's the proof?

BTW, haven't seen you in awhile at the CAC reunion. What gives Bruce?

Bruce Pobanz is a total fraud who has NEVER been a part of the wrestling business. Please Jimmy Valiant get rid of this disgraceful phoney from yout Hall of Fame as he cheapens its authenticity in every way.

It used to be amusing reading Pobanz's fake accounts of his career, but now it's just annoying and sad. "Worked for Vince Sr" No. Flair taught his wife the chop? They've never even been in the same room as Flair close enough to grab that fake fan photobomb thing he does, where he nabs a wrestler who agrees to a photo with this fan and then posts it as a reunion with his old tag partner. So lame. He never, ever, EVER even had a legit match as The Hangman with anyone you've ever heard of much less, as he claims, Andre, Foley, etc on down the line. The really sad part is that it totally invalidates any other good he may (or may not) have done with the charitable organizations he claims to have done so much work for (Red Cross during hurricanes for one example he has expounded on endlessly), because why should anyone believe that he performed such heroics saving people during a hurricane if he has created a 100% fraudulent identity as a "wrestler"? He says he lost all records of his career in a fire and his concussions prevent him from remembering the details (LOL!). Well, surely that still leaves some record somewhere of A SINGLE MATCH of any note anywhere that hasn't lost their records in a fire.

Yes, I agree with Dan and Henry. I have a huge amount of respect for Jimmy Valiant for his long and storied career. But why he lets Pobanz use him for his legitimacy and knock him down a few pegs in the fans' minds while he tries to puff himself up is completely beyond me. A mystery for the ages. Unless Jimmy himself can explain it he continues to be not what he used to be in my eyes. I consider a bonafide wrestling legend being an enabler to Pobanz to be a disgrace to legit wrestlers everywhere.
