This was the big final show of the season for Main Event Thursday, & thanks to this week's guest, CW Anderson, the season went out w/a bang! This extreme wrestling star from the original ECW began the show w/the touching story of the time he asked Jimmy Valiant to pay a special visit to his brother who was in the hospital battling cancer. It is a truly inspirational story as his brother went on to defy the odds by making a complete recovery. CW went on to discuss topics such as living up to the Anderson name & the advice that Arn Anderson gave him, the people he most liked to be around backstage, & how his baseball past helped him perfect his Spinebuster finisher. He also commented on his battles with the unpredictable Terry Funk in the MLW federation as a member of the Extreme Horsemen, the importance of giving your all for the fans, & much more. Angel announced Boogie's upcoming appearances & once again invited everyone to come out to BWC Graduation 2010 on September 12th from Noon to 4pm. The gang said their goodbyes to each other & to the fans before Boogie took us out one more time as only he can. See you all next summer for Season Three!

After having to postpone her guest gig by a week due to an unavoidable scheduling conflict, Babydoll proved that she was well worth the wait as she joined Boogie & the gang for week 12 of Main Event Thursday. Topics of discussion included the first time she met Jimmy Valiant & what she thought of his outfit, the possibility of her daughter continuing in the family business, the cage match she wrestled in at the Great American Bash, love at first sight, Austin-Hall cowboy boots, her current favorite stars in the independent wrestling scene, keeping in touch w/Tully & Dusty & much more. She also gave the info on her official MySpace & Facebook sites. Angel announced Boogie's upcoming appearance dates including this year's BWC Graduation on Sunday, September 12th from 12-4pm. Boogie announced next week's guest as ECW star CW Anderson! This week's Main Event will actually take place a day early on Wednesday, August 25th, from 5pm-6pm, so be sure not to miss it. & be sure to call 1-888-639-4900 to ask
CW Anderson a question live on the air for the big final Main Event show of the season! When I was a kid, I used to love to play the Donkey Kong arcade game in the front lobby of our local department store. I spent quite a few of my mom's quarters trying to help Mario dodge barrels & save the pretty girl. Later, when I was dating my future wife, we would spend hours in the basement of her mother's house playing Super Mario 3 on the Nintendo. These days, my son Douglas plays any number of video games which feature the Mario character. So you can imagine it was quite a thrill for us to meet the real Super Mario live & in person recently during a family vacation. Super Mario was a wrestling star in the USWA as well as many other federations & is a member of the BWC Hall of Fame. It was great meeting Super Mario & it was neat to hear him tell stories from his wrestling career including his hilarious rendition of the 'Happy Burpday' story from Boogie's book. I was impressed w/the amount of time Super Mario took w/my four year old son Douglas. He taught Douglas a wrestling hold, gave him some valuable words of wisdom & even gave him a Super Mario trading card as a gift. It is easy to see why children & their parents alike aways loved Super Mario as they cheered him to victory in the ring. & Super Mario is still taking care of business in & around the squared circle as he continues to make appearances and compete in matches. In fact, he told us about being featured in an article in the Spring 2010 issue of an international publication called Video Game Traders Magazine. The print version of that particular issue was so popular that it seems to have already sold out, but a digital version is currently still available & you can also currently read the article directly online in a preview on the Video Game Traders Magazine website. Click here to go to the offical site to check out the great article on page six about Super Mario and the crossover between video games & wrestling. My wife, my son & I had a wonderful time visiting w/the namesake of one of our favorite video game characters & we are collectively looking forward to seeing him again. Thanks Super Mario! The guest for Week 11 was supposed to be 'The Perfect 10' Baby Doll, but she unfortunately had to reschedule until the following week's program. Fortunately, Moondog Rex, who was slated for Week 12, was able to work the show into his busy schedule a week earlier at the last minute. Even on such short notice, Moondog Rex was an excellent guest as he chatted w/Boogie, Angel, Big Dog & the listeners about such topics as the craziest match he was ever in, the importance of being in the right place at the right time, the possibility of a Moondog Rex action figure, being a WWF Tag Team Champion, wrestling the Fabulous Ones, Rupp Arena, his youngest fan & much more. Angel filled us in on Boogie's upcoming appearance schedule & Boogie closed out the show by announcing that Baby Doll is now slated to appear on this week's show on August 19th. Be sure to tune in online to Main Event Thursday on Supersports 101.7 & call in to 1-888-639-4900 this Thursday, August 19th, from 5pm to 6pm, to ask Baby Doll a question.
My family & I just got back home from a nice, relaxing vacation to Myrtle Beach, SC. The trip was wonderful, but while I was away I didn't have access to a computer or the Internet, so I've gotten a little behind on some of the things I would have normally done on this site. For example, I would have dedicated a special birthday blog entry to Angel Valiant on her special day back on August 11th. Now that I'm back in the swing of things, I'd like to officially & belatedly do that now by wishing Angel a very Happy Birthday & many, many more to come. Angel is such a special part of BWC & does so much to keep it running smoothly for all of us to enjoy. She is also a wonderful singer who's obvious vocal talent can be heard on the 'Dancing W/My Baby' CD. She also runs her own Angel's Wrestling Wear company & has published her own 'Piggy In A Blanket' children's book, with more books in the works. Angel & Boogie are a special couple & make a great team. Happy Birthday Angel!
I recorded this off of my TV because I thought it would be an appropriate promo for the big day. Mostly because today is Boogie's birthday, but also because he is in Charlotte today for the NWA Wrestling Legends Fanfest. If you are going, be sure to stop by his table & wish him a Happy Birthday! You can own the full version of this clip as well as tons more classic Jimmy Valiant footage by ordering the Best of Jimmy Valiant Vol. 1 DVD which you can find on the merchandise page. Here is a great match between Scotty Rocker & Brad "The Man" which took place at Boogie's 65th Birthday Bash a few years ago at BWC. I can be spotted in the crowd a few times during the match. This footage is part of the Boogie Woogie Birthday Bash DVD which can also be found on the merchandise page. Here is a nice shot of Boogie & myself at the big wrestling show that was held in Christiansburg as part of his 65th Birthday Bash weekend. It was an awesome night & a special weekend. I'm so glad I was able to spend the weekend celebrating Boogie's milestone 65th birthday with him, Angel & the BWC Family. It is a treasured memory for me that I will never forget. Boogie, I hope this birthday & all of your birthdays are filled with happiness, love & many blessings! Thank you so much for all that you give all of your fans, friends & family. We love you! Happy Birthday!
With Boogie & Angel heading to Charlotte, NC for the big NWA Legends Wrestling Fanfest, this week's Main Event Thursday was a rebroadcast of the show from a few weeks back which featured WWE Hall of Famer Cowboy Bob Orton. I enjoyed getting another chance to hear this show & was just as entertained as I was the first time around. Every show this season has been great & I can't wait until Boogie, Angel & company return live to the airwaves this coming Thursday, August 12th to welcome legendary valet "The Perfect Ten" Baby Doll to the show. Tune in to Main Event Thursday at 5pm & be sure to call 1-888-639-4900 to ask Baby Doll a question about her successful career in the world of wrestling.
