Wow! So here we are. 400 Boogieland comic strips. 400 fun adventures w/my BWC Family in comic strip form! It is a great accomplishment that I am very proud of & thankful for. Believe it or not, over 50 real life Boogieland Family members have taken part in the fun & received the comic strip treatment during the course of this strip so far & I thank each & every one of you from the bottom of my heart! I couldn't have done it w/out you! We did it people! The most recent real life characters, appearing in this very strip, are Shady & Kayden Pheonix. Shady, who is a popular DJ in addition to holding many wrestling titles, expressed interest in joining the fun when I met him at a Boogie appearance/private party in Altavista, VA. You'll have to ask him about the tongs reference yourself. Kayden is a former BWF Heavyweight Champion who I have had the privilege of making many great wrestling road trips w/but he still scares me a little, er, a lot! Thanks guys for being a part of the first 400! A big thank you to Mike Mars for contributing the beautiful piece of artwork you see above to commemorate this cool milestone. I love how he made it a 'bust' to reflect the name of the strip. Nice touch Mike! Keep up the awesome work! I'm expecting to see you on the shelves of comic shops everywhere & in the rings of the top wrestling companies in the world any time now! A very special thank you to my mom Faye for reading every Boogieland strip from day one & frequently leaving comments. Not to mention everything else you have done for me in my life! Thanks Mom! I love you! & a deeply heartfelt thank you to everyone who has ever read a Boogieland strip, left a comment, liked a post or helped out in any way. It is greatly appreciated. Thank you so much to my Boogieland street people & the entire BWC Family. & of course, I have to personally thank Boogie & Angel for believing in me & allowing me to do this comic in the first place. I appreciate all that you've done to get the word out about our comic strip adventures & beyond that, I thank you for all the real life adventures we've shared & especially for your love & friendship! I love you Boogie & Angel! Be back this Thursday, Oct. 2nd, when we begin a new storyline & start on the next 400 strips! There will be lots more fun & adventure along the way & hopefully a lot more real life BWC characters along for the ride! Don't miss it! See you in Boogieland! Well, it's almost here! Today's strip is the 399th Boogieland strip, meaning, of course, that the next strip will be the big 400th comic strip! I'll try to wait until then to expand on just how hard it is to believe that I've done so many Boogieland comics! I've decided that since it is such a special milestone, I'm going to make it an extra long, quadruple-sized, four page comic strip! Plus, to commemorate the accomplishment, there will be an extra special, awesome looking piece of artwork by the only BWC & Kubert School graduate that I know of, Mike Mars! Today's strip is also special because it features the first appearance of my brother Mike in his NoDQ character from the Magnet Man short films. I hope you enjoy being a part of the fun Mike! Sorry it took 399 strips to get you to Boogieland! Look for a couple first-time characters this Monday, Sept. 29th in the much-anticipated 400th Boogieland or Bust comic. Don't miss it! See you here! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or any Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Click HERE for more info. Thanks for reading! Take care!
Some aspects of the Boogieland or Bust comic strip are taken directly from how things really are at BWC. Other things, like say the monsters attacking & the time travel adventures, are imagined for the sake of a fun story. For example, in the 'Broadway's Charm' storyline Gala visits camp for the very first time. In reality, she has been to BWC several times & was even w/Magnet Man when he made his very first trip to Boogieland! I hope you enjoyed this 'Broadway' Charm' storyline. I enjoying introducing a lot of new characters this time around. We are getting very close to the big 400th comic strip! I can't wait. See you this Thursday for number 399! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or any Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Click HERE for more info. Thanks for reading! Take care!
September is an interesting month for me. It's a time of reflecting back on the summer & looking ahead to the fall season & the rest of the year. Overall I'm happy w/how I spent my summer & I'm thankful for all the fun & quality time I was able to spend w/my family & friends. I look forward to all the adventures that will come in these next few months. One thing that is fast approaching in the milestone 400th Boogieland comic strip! Hard to believe I am already so close to that many strips. I guess what they say about time flying is true, because I've been having all kinds of fun doing this comic. I hope you are having fun reading it & I hope you will be back on Monday to enjoy another exciting installment! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or any Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Click HERE for more info. Thanks for reading! Take care!
Happy Monday! That may sound strange considering Monday's reputation, but I consider every new day I wake up to a happy day! It always makes it happier to wake up in the morning beside my wonderful wife Gala. A little background story on how she ended up in this comic storyline. After BWC Family member Broadway asked me to include him in the comic, I started getting ideas for a story I could tell about him. I knew at some point he would have to get his hamburger patty swiped by Boogie, since I've heard that great story so many times. I also had to come up w/a name for the story, so I ended up choosing 'Broadway's Charm' because it was the name of my wife's horse that she had before I met her. She called him Broadway for short, but his proper horse name was Broadway's Charm & so she really did used to write his initials BWC a lot on notebooks & stuff. She could never have guessed that she would one day be married to a staff member of a place called BWC! So, anyway, I picked the name as a tribute to Gala & her horse, but then I thought, why not include them in the story too. & so here we are. I'm so glad to have Gala in my life & now as part of my Boogieland comic strip! It was only a matter of time! Be back this Thursday, Sept. 18th for the next exciting installment in the Broadway's Charm adventure! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or any Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Click HERE for more info. Thanks for reading! Take care!
I'll never forget, I was at college in an art class. One of my fellow students came back in from a break w/the news that a plane had hit the World Trade Center. The way he said it, I pictured a small private plane accidentally hitting the tower & causing some minor damage. It wasn't until after the class, when I joined the crowd gathered around the TV in the student center, that I realize the horror of what had actually happened. The first tower was already gone & I watched helplessly as the second tower fell. Even though today is about remembering, it's something I would rather forget. Still, I respectfully remember those we lost that day. I honor the heroes who stepped up to help. I celebrate the spirit of unity we felt as a country that day & in the days after the tragedy. I am proud to be an American. God bless America! On a much lighter note, I am happy to welcome the prettiest character ever to appear in the Boogieland comic strip. Her name is Gala & she is my wonderful, beautiful wife. She would want to point out the other new character in today's strip, her horse Broadway's Charm. She would also want me to point out that he was beautiful too. I wish I would have met him, but through pictures & videos & Gala's great stories, I feel like I know him well. I'm happy to have him in my comic strip. Be back this Monday, Sept. 15th for more Broadway's Charm, more Gala & more Boogieland! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or any Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Click HERE for more info. Thanks for reading! Take care!
Well, I knew I was going to have a blast at BWC Graduation this year & I certainly wasn't disappointed! For 22 years in a row, BWC Graduation has been a special celebration of wrestling, family & dreams come true! I'm so honored & thankful to be part of it! Douglas & I had a great day meeting new friends & catching up w/old ones. We enjoyed watching all the exciting wrestling action including one giant leap that will be talked about forever! Something else worth talking about is the current takeover of Boogieland in this very comic strip by the evil, mysterious Black Widow! Be back this Thursday to see what happens next! If you couldn't make it for the big day yesterday, the good news is you can always attend camp any Sunday from 12 Noon to 4pm! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or any Sunday. Admission is free! Click HERE for more info. Thanks for reading! Take care!
