Be a part of this exciting project from the very beginning & don't miss an episode! & be sure to check out the next thrilling installment in the World Gone Mad saga this Thursday! We have a very special guest artist for one panel in today's strip. Me! Well, a much younger version of myself anyway. Fenton Astroman, like many characters in this storyline, was created by me when I was just a kid. I was always drawing little sketches & comic strips on whatever scraps of paper I had handy. The only drawings that survived from that early time in my life were drawn in one yellow notebook which I've been able to hang on to all these years. Other characters from that notebook who also appear in this storyline are The Helper, Stretch & of course Magnet Man himself. When redrawing Fenton Astroman for this comic strip, I copied the original drawing from an unfinished strip from childhood. I couldn't resist taking it one step further & using the actual original drawing for panel five of today's strip. So that officially makes me a guest artist in my own comic strip! I've included the unfinished Astro Man strip from that childhood notebook for your enjoyment. Be back this Monday for more w/Fenton Astroman & the Boogieland gang in another exciting comic strip! Have a great weekend! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or any Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Click HERE for more info. Thanks for reading! Take care! Early drawings of Fenton Astroman from a childhood notebook.
Heroes Con Mini-report: It was an awesome show! One of the highlights was meeting DMC of the legendary rap group Run DMC! He was super nice & when he noticed my Jimmy Valiant shirt he was quick to tell me that he was a huge Jimmy Valiant fan & that Jimmy was a big part of his growing up & was even influential to his attitude on stage when rocking a mic! How cool is that?! It was great as always to see the same familiar faces of the Heroes Con family & to meet new friends as well. It was nice seeing BWC Family members Guy & Jadon at this year's con. It was extra special to spend Father's Day w/my son Douglas at the special event. We even won t-shirts for each other at the CW 'Plinko' game. What a great day! Can't wait until next year! Be back this Thursday for more Boogieland adventure as the World Gone Mad storyline continues! Happy First Day of Summer! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or any Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Click HERE for more info. Thanks for reading! Take care!
The big comic show is this weekend! I'm talking about Heroes Con in Charlottle, NC! I haven't set up at that show in years, but this will be my 22nd consecutive Heroes Con so it will be good to visit w/the regular Heroes Con family that I see every year. Hopefully I will also meet lots of new friends at this year's show. I hear a rumor that Magnet Man will be walking around the con floor as well, so if you see him be sure to go up to him & say hi & he will probably give you a cool new print comic to take home as a souvenir! Be back this Monday for the next installment in the World Gone Mad storyline! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or any Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Well, saw a bear in my neighborhood. I was walking my dog Poe & all of a sudden there was the bear lumbering right toward me! Granted, it was only about the size of a big dog, but I wasn't about to take any chances making friends w/it! I just calmly picked up Poe & casually made my way back to my house. Thankfully the bear wasn't interested enough to follow. That was a close call! I'm very proud of my son Douglas for getting a receiving touchdown in his most recent NFL Flag Football game! This was after playing goalie in an indoor soccer game earlier in the day. He loves sports & he works very hard. Way to go Douglas! Keep up the great work! Be back this Thursday for the next exciting installment in the World Gone Mad saga! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or I Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. So Douglas, Grandma Faye & I went to see the new Ninja Turtles movie! It was a lot of fun! There were certain things I liked better about the first one & certain things I liked better about the new one. Overall it was an awesome movie & I highly recommend it to anyone looking for some good, quality, fun entertainment! Would I rather see Turtles 2 again or go to Boogie's Wrestling Camp? BWC of course, but I hope to see the movie again too before it leaves the theaters. Be back this Monday for the next exciting, unusual installment in the World Gone Mad storyline! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or I Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Click HERE for more info. Thanks for reading! Take care!
I'm very proud of my niece Sierra for graduating from high school w/honors! Not to mention the awards she won this year in academics & athletics! Way to go Sierra! You are awesome! I'm super proud of all my nieces & nephews! & of course I am very proud of my own son, Douglas! It's hard to believe Sierra's graduation day has already come & gone & I know it will be Douglas' turn in the blink of an eye! I'm trying to appreciate & enjoy every moment in between. It is great to be an uncle & a father! Be back this Thursday for another exciting installment in the World Gone Mad storyline! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or I Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Click HERE for more info. Thanks for reading! Take care!
My son Douglas has only been out of school for a few days now, but we are already having a blast together! He just got his report card today & it was awesome! Way to go Douglas! I couldn't resist giving a little tip of the hat to Marvel's "Mutant Massacre" storyline in the final panel of today's strip. Not that I have anything against mutants, but I do have a certain nostalgia for the comics I read in my youth. Be back this Monday to see what happens in the next installment of the World Gone Mad storyline! I highly recommend a visit to the real Boogieland in person this Sunday or I Sunday, from 12 noon to 4pm. Admission is free! Click HERE for more info. Thanks for reading! Take care!
